Chosen For This Family

Happy New Year! I pray you all had a blessed Christmas and New Year 2020!

Truthfully, we all measure that in different ways. What makes me feel like I had a good time may not be the same for you and vice versa. What makes me the happiest and gives me the most joy is family time. I love my family with all my heart and I truly want to be a blessing to them as I know they want to be for me.

As you know, we do not get to choose our earthly family. But that is the beauty of being in the family of Christ. He specifically chose you to be part of his family. Oh, how special we should all feel!

“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.” (Ephesians 1:4-5)

Yes, our adoption is by the Father’s choice and desire, pulling us into a family where Christ calls us brothers and sisters.

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1)

“Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.”

(John 17:20-23)

Oh, what a glorious day! There is hope and love beyond our physical understanding because we have been chosen! As much as I love and adore my earthly family, there is nothing that surpasses being in the family of God!

God has a plan for His family; we are that plan. Destined and adopted, we are living in harmony with His pleasure, His will, to His glory.

God, give me eyes that can see through the mess of life in Your family. Flawed as we are, give me a heart of faith that can accept myself and my brothers and sisters around me as part of Your perfect plan. I surrender in conformity to Your will, that my life might be lived for the praise of Your glory.
