City In The Sky
I watched a PBS documentary this week about the inner workings of the world of modern airlines. It chronicled the construction of the giant air bus which seats some 300+ passengers. It walked the viewer through the giant jet fuel storage tanks, thru the huge kitchens that prepare millions of meals for passengers, how they manage millions of pieces of luggage and how the planes are protected in some of the most bitter weather conditions (-53F) in Siberia, for instance.
It explained how thousands of planes are flying through the skies at any given time and the dynamics of the principle that keeps them in the air. They referred to these giant planes as “Cities in the Sky.”
After the documentary ended, I laid in bed and thought about all the mind-boggling facts I had just absorbed about planes and flight.
And, of course, my mind went to the amazing flight that we are preparing for when the trumpet sounds to call the bride of Christ home. We won’t need jet fuel, special thrusters, specially prepared meals, nor will we have to worry about traffic in the sky.
Our pilot has promised our journey will happen “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye” and we will be caught up to meet Him in the air. We too will be part of a “City in the Sky” as is told us in Revelation chapter 21… “And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
Don’t miss this great journey. Prepare for the trip, which could happen any moment, by repenting of your sins, being baptized in the wonderful Name of Jesus, and accepting his free gift of the Holy Ghost, evidenced by speaking in tongues (Acts 2:38).
